Ionia, Mich.

The Outpatient and Peer Support teams at The Right Door for Hope, Recovery and Wellness, formerly Ionia County Community Mental Health, have been encouraging our co-workers to do some spring cleaning of their closets this month and help us collect nice, clean adult clothing donations.

May is Mental Health Month, and to mark this occasion our two teams will be holding our “Drab to Fab” event on Thursday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in our Ionia office.

This is the second year doing a clothing drive, which includes accessories like purses, shoes and jewelry, for our clients and clients’ families. Last year the response was fantastic, and we had a fun time helping people pick out an outfit or two, while music played and everyone enjoyed snacks. This year we’ll be giving away goodie bags with health and beauty products, and we’ll have a make-up station where attendees can sample products.

People often struggle more with depression during the winter. Our springtime “Drab to Fab” event is aimed at making people feel better by doing something nice for themselves, as well as building self-esteem.

Anyone in the community can help us by dropping off clean adult clothing and accessories that are in good repair at either the Ionia or Belding office of The Right Door. Thanks in advance!
